Dell is running a good deal on the M1330, or at least what I would consider a good deal. $1,069 (before tax and shipping) for the configuration below. What do you all think?

get a Vostro 1310 , you won't regret it,the XPS is cheaply built, the paint on the lid wears off very quick.

Looks pretty good. If you have the option to go down to 3gb of RAM, that might be a better option for you unless you're a techie and want to try and load a 64-bit version of Windows. 4gb will only be used by the OS if its 64-bit, otherwise you will only see 3gb. If you don't have an option and 4gb is the only choice... so be it. :)

I got 4gb on my M1530 when I had a choice of either 3gb or 4gb, but I knew I'd be loading Vista Ultimate 64-bit on it shortly after I got it.

Actually windows will see 3.5 GB, so if the price difference is negligible, or you don't have the option to take it down to 3, just go for 4 GB.

you know, i've heard of quality issues with the m1330... but i've also heard that it could be due to the large amount of units sold (more units = more reportable problems), and perhaps some problems with early release models.

    what's the real deal?

the price i quoted above seems good to me, but i'm considering waiting for the new latitude series, or perhaps the new lenovo t-series...

Future proof your system and get wireless n. Unless you plan on selling this laptop on eBay in the next year or so, this is a no brainier.

Also IMO the slim and light display is totally worth $150.

Good suggestions... but why do you say that about the display, does it make that much difference?

It's brighter and gives a nice boost to battery life as well as "cleaner" colours.
