    Hi Everyone

Just wondering if Dell PC Restore by Symantec has been installed on my M1330 because I can't get it to load. I have tried the Ctrl + F11 buttons during the boot process but however many times/ways I do it, it just goes on to load the OS.

Disk management says I have one OS partition, one 10GB recovery, one unnamed 2.5GB (100% free) and one 110MB (100% free).

    Many thanks

your 10Gb recovery would be your System restore files, 2.5gb is mediadirect and it seems one unformat partition if its 100percent free....so no Symantec doesnt apear to be on it unless you reinstalled fresh OS and repartitioned and deledted the system restore partition.

Dell didn't proof-read their manuals. The Ctrl-F11 combo is non-existant.
I managed to run the recovery partition by pressing F8. You'll get the Windows recovery menu which has the option to run the Dell recovery. Just choose that and voila. :)
    Hope this helps

Plus it's no longer Symantec. On Vista, Dell uses Vista's imagex.exe program.

When the F2/F12 options show on the top right, press F8.

Yupp, the Dell manual is incorrect. I spent quite a bit of time yesterday trying to figure out how to access the recovery partition...then I finally found out all I had to do was hit F8.

I've tried Acronis true image and symantec livestate recovery and they both failed.

Acronics wouldn't even load and symantec livestate recovery would not restore the image even though it could see the drives. I will give it another go when i get my new replacement.

Install true image trial and make a complete copy with it. I did this less than 3 months ago with my m1210.
