I think it's a well-known fact that many (if not all) of our M1330s come with an Expresscard bay that slightly exposes inserted expresscards (excluding the so-called dustcover that came pre-inserted) - the Dell Media Remote is a perfect example.

By slightly exposed, I mean ~2mm (1/16"). As I mentioned in another post, having the remote jutting out 2mm is of no great concern to me optically, however, my newest ExpressCard device, a CF adapter, has two ends that stick out those 2mm and will easily shred the inside of my Sleeve (...if not my shirt-sleeves first... :() and my plan was to leave it in the slot, but now I can't.

So I'd really like to know if anyone out there has an ExpressCard bay that allows their Remote to be truly flush with the side of the Notebook, 'Cause if there is, there may be a way (for a Dell rep.) to adjust the ExpressCard bay's location 1 or 2mm...!

Thx as always for your welcomed feedback :D

Mine does NOT sit flush, nor does it bother me. I keep my remote in it at all times.

it's not supposed to sit flush so you can push the card in to spring the ejection on it unlike the pcmcia slots where it had a button to push to eject the card.

Not seems to be norm since I've seen 2 systems w/ remotes sticking out a bit. May be it was meant to make ppl w/ huge fingers life easier... who knows?

I brought this up in conversation previously as I questioned it. The remote and SD card were intended to stick out slightly.

Yeah, that's what I figured too, but unfortunately the concept makes my CF ExpressCard adapter a little bit dangerous... (I'll have to post a picture so you can appreciate what I'm saying).

But it's ok, 'cause I just benchmarked the puppy and man, it's faaast!!!

Actually, I think there is a difference. I've seen some flush ones on ebay which are infra-red. The ones that stick out are Bluetooth.

You must not be looking at the same things then because my IR Remote protrudes a couple millimeters out of the Express Card Slot.

Completely different. The remote that comes with the m1330 is IR.

Sticks out 1mm. Not a bother. Probably so that people with large fingers will be able to get the remote out.

Same with the SD reader, sticks out about 2.5mm. That is a problem sometimes as it gets acidentally ejected quite easily on its own.
