I purchased this particular laptop because it had a HDMI port, and I was told by the BestBuy techs that all I had to do was plug and play. Pluged the HDMI cable to laptop and LCD, but nothing. Went into the control panel searching for answers, and asked BestBuy for help, but that costs $99 to get anything from them!

If anyone can give me some guidence, that would be great.

    Thanks, Kevin

Right click on your desktop, there should be an option in the menu for "Nvidia Control Panel" or "Graphic Properties". Click on that. It will open up a menu that will allow you to choose what display(s) to use.

FN F8 shut down both displays, and then trying to open up the graphic properties did the same.

I've found my way to the display settings window, and it gives me the option to manuver around from 1. Generic PnP monitor Or 2. Generic Pnp monitor & in both set up screens it has the option to click on a box for "this is my main monitor" & a box for "Extend the desktop onto this monitor" When I open it up it has both boxes checked for the #1 monitor and non for the #2 monitor. I've tried numerous times to try different ways, but I can only have one of the monitors active as my desktop, is that correct? I have a program, Proselect, that I want to run on my laptop, and then have it also appear on my LCD via the HDMI cord, how can I accomplish this?

    Thanks again, Kevin

    Kevin,
Did you try Function key (Fn) and F8 key press simultaneously? It will cycle through the following modes:
laptop LCD -> laptop LCD + external monitor (your HDTV set) -> external monitor (HDTV set) only.

    Give it a try.
