Anyone know if this is possible?
I ask because I just picked up a M1330 from the dell outlet store that seems to have both.
When I was looking on the web I saw that it had a LED screen which was what I wanted and picked it up last night, but I didn’t noticed that it said it has the 2mp camera till I was looking at the invoice this morning. It’s a Scratch and Dent so is it possible that it had a LED display put in a Standard Display bezel?
The order status page tells shows
    MM350 Module,Liquid Crystal Display 13.3WX,Light Emitting Diode TMD,M1330
    XW217 Module,Cover,Liquid Crystal Display,Black,2M,Stand,M1330

-Thanks, and let me know if more information is needed to get to the bottom of this

Not going to happen. LED screen will give you the 0.3mp camera while the CCFL screen will give you the 2mp.

It's a lot easier to check if you really do have a 2mp camera by loading the Dell-supplied webcam apps and checking the max resolution (for still images). It's probably a bit harder to verify which screen you got but a good start is to check the Vendor ID using the Windows Device Manager utility (right-click the "My Computer" icon, etc.) Maybe the vendor id will help determine if it's an LED. Otherwise, look at this post and see if the images help to determine if your cover's thickness is closer to one or the other panel types.

Thanks for the idea on how to check for the 2MP camera. I'm thinking that someone at the dell outlet miss checked something when they were putting this M1330 up on the outlet I just hope it has the LED screen. On then upside I have the order confirmation listing that I got the LED screen so if they ship without it I would think I could send it back.

I just checked the Dell webcam app on my 1330 with LED screen, and it allows a maximum resolution (for still capture) of 1.3MP (1280x1024).

I did some info-mining on my own rig and here's what I can tell you:

Panel-cover thickness 2/3 of the way up (or towards the front): 6mm

    Monitor Hardware Ids: Monitor\LCD2306
    SiSoft Sandra info:
    SN: 31333432, manufactured 3rd Sep 2007, EDID ver 1.03

Laptop Integrated Webcam HW Ids: USB\VID_05A9&PID_7670&...
    Manufacturer: Creative Technology Ltd.
    SiSoft Sandra info:
USB Device: OmniVision Technologies Inc. 7670 (Ven_05A9)

Dell Photo Capture max res: 1280x1024 (approx. 1.3MP*)
*This is a bit confusing since the webcam is labeld by Dell as a "0.3mp", so I'm thinking that the 1280x1024 res is interpolated and the true res is 640x480, the default video res.

Well I got the laptop in on Friday and had the weekend to play with it. Overall I really like the M1330, mine had a small scratch under the touch-pad and a loose piece above the right side of the keyboard,o CPU noise (I have bios A07) but it was a scratch and dent from the outlet so no big deal on the scratchs. I check the camera and the screen. I have the 2MP camera and screen is ID=LPL0000 a CCFL. After about an hour and a half on the phone with Dell they are going to replace the screen with on LED. Most of the time was the Dell rep trying to find a way to check the LCD maker, once he had figured how he was very quick to setup replacement for the LED which is what the system was listed as having in the all paperwork that come with the system (A+ for support so far). One interesting fact that the dell tech rep. told me was that the 2MP camera bezel with the CCFL is a valid configuration, so it looks like I may end up with a one of a kind laptop setup.
I will post more when I get the replacement screen.

    ?

I was told by an xps rep that they cannot perform replacements of led screens on ccfl screen configurated laptop due to the differencesin the size and setup of the laptop dsplay led.

Your rep was correct the tech came today to replace the screen, and the LED screen part number (CX059) would not fit in the CCFL display bezel. After an hour on the phone dell is sending me a new system with the correct screen.

You will need a system replacement. The CCFL frame is thicker, you don't want dell to just put a LED panel in the thicker CCFL frame.

Outlet mislabels most of their LED's as 2MP.

it is possilble but a very delicate process. i will find the link. there is a guy who did this whith his machine. the only downside was that it took him over 5 hours to get the camera seated correctly. his video is somewhere on YouTube
