Hey guys,
Ive got an issue with my M1330. When i plug in my mp3 player into the line in jack, no sound comes out of the speakers. When I hit mic options in control panel , i can see the green bars illuminated when i play sound from my mp3. No sound comes from speakers or headphones. However, when i use sound recorder, and record it, i can hear the music being played back to me when i play it.
Is the m1330 supposed to play line in music through line in, or just be able to record it?
Thanks in advance,
Shonak

You need to configure the jack using the Sigmatel Utitlity.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that is how DELL has made the driver to work. You cant hear the line-in or the mic input from the speakers, but still you can record or use IM clients (with mic) etc.. I havent specifically tried with the Line-in, but I know for sure that the mic input works this way in all DELL notebooks with sigmatel cards.
As I remember, for the older inspiron notebooks, there was a hacked driver which enabled lot of features , and I think hearing Line-in/mic was one of them. -
where is the sigmatel utility? Is that the thing that pops up every time? Because if it is, there arent really any options to change line-in settings.

Yeah, the Sigmatel thing only has two options in it. Why does this thing even exist? Have you tried unmuting the mic in Window's volume settings? With it muted you can still record stuff but it doesn't come out the speakers

i have configured every setting correctly. Anyone else know why there is no sound through speakers?

Maybe this will help?

The above advice may be pre-Vista, however. -
yeah it is pre vista. Has anyone actually got line in sound to play through the speakers? its not even on the mixer...
