20 days... I just got off the phone with dell cause i wanted the upgrade and he said it would add 20 days to my shipping.. Thats if you want the LED screen instead of the LCD
It also seems like alot of people are trying to get the upgrade cause he didnt even look up my info.. (Didnt have my order #).. he said he tried to do it for 2 people yesterday and it added 20 days
ITS MADNESS

That's what I've been reading. Maybe someone who has upgraded another part can comment, but I don't think it's just the LED screen that would do that. -
You think they will ever sell the part alone... or is it possible to upgrade it later? -
The Dell's automated online order page has showed the same thing for over a week. When you add LED as an option your ship date jumps up 20 days. And the sells reps basically just open up the website and click on things that you ask for, and read the little descriptions for you.
They probably know less than you do about the laptop.

Dear Fellas,
I was wondering if anyone can let me know the significant difference between
the LCD screen and the one with LED. The dell guy are saying the same screen is the same, only the webcam is different. I would appreciate if anyone out there can bring some light for my confusion. Thanks in advance.
Regards -
The webcam is exactly the same. LED will give you better battery life and a brighter screen.
-
The webcam is not the same.
From the "Tech Specs" on the Dell site
-
For XPS M1330 the webcam is NOT the same, and the LED is thinner, lighter, uses less power.
For XPS M1530 the webcam is the same I think. -
That cannot be right.. if the cam is 0.3MP what is the point of even having it in there?
-
Dear Fellas,
Thanks for all the response. This is the message i found under the tech spec from the DELL website:-
Optional:
13.3" UltraSharpTM WXGA display with TrueLifeTM
2.0 MP camera (standard CCFL display)
13.3" UltraSharpTM WXGA display with TrueLifeTM
0.3 MP camera (optional WLED slim & light display)
I confused as to whether they are taking about the webcam or the display still. I hope the experts out there can advise. Thanks.

The LED screen is better(brighter/thinner/lighter/better viewing angles/lower power consumption). The 2 MP cam is better.. I am not sure what you are asking fr...
The 2MP cam is physically too thick to put into the thin lid when you get the LED backlit display... -
Dear Sess,
Thanks for the reply. I m actually more concern about display than the webcam itself. So i guess got to sacrifice the webcam capabilities than.

The VGA cam isn't great, but good ennough for an occasional Video chat..
The screen more than makes up for it, since you'll be using it much more anyway.. -
The LED screen is extremely thin. But if you need the webcam more than anything you'll have to go the CCFL way.
-
Dear All,
Thanks for all the comments. I guess LCD screen has more advantages such as brighter/thinner/lighter/better viewing angles/lower power consumption and comes with a VGA cam which i m ok with. The DELL people gave me a totally different explanation. They told me the screen is the same and only the webcam is different. They said the LED is a small light which is next to the cam for better imaging while using the cam. I will have to change my config asap before placing the order. Thanks for all the informative explanations , appreciate it.
Regards -
You'll be happy with it, I know I liked it on my M1330. The only downsize to LED is that it only comes with the one resolution at the moment. Hopefully as LEDs become more popular they will be offered in all the resolutions as CCFL LCDs.
