Okay guys, I tried connecting my M1330 to an AKAI LCD TV by both VGA and HDMI. The first time I did so both did not work and on my TV it said "Not Supported". So I went to laptopvideo2go.com and got 156.66 Nvidia drivers, hoping this would fix it.

After installing 156.66 driver, my VGA connection works now, and my screen is outputted to the TV, but my HDMI connection still shows up on the TV as "Not Supported". Any ideas on how to fix this?

Also, I'm not sure if the 156.66 drivers were the latest drivers, maybe that's the reason? Any help would be appreciated!

I'm using Dells driver for the 8400M; 156.69.

HDMI is working fine on my Samsung 32" HDTV.

Have you enabled the correct display output and format in the NVIDIA control panel? You need to select 720p for HD-ready or 1080p for Full-HD tvs. Also I think the color profile would be an important factor. I think there should be two choices - have you tried both?

Ok, I got my HDMI connection to work, but now it's the resolution problem.

What is the "correct display output"? Because I know with my old Sony laptop, whenever I plug VGA in, it'll automatically adjust the computer resolution to one that fits the TV's resolution. But this Dell laptop doesn't do that, so it lets me manually choose resolution, 1280x800, 1024x768, etc, etc.

Which one do I use? I've gone through every one and it seems that all of them yield really bad resolution output on my TV. There's no way for Dell to auto-adjust so that it'll find the perfect resolution on the TV?

    Hey Guys,

I've connected my M1330 to my new Panasonic PT-AE2000 projector which is a Full HD capable device but I'm having a bit of bother changing resolutions.

When I go into the nVidia Control Panel and try to change the signal or HD format option I don't get a 1080p option. The highest is 720p. I can't see either at the moment how to increase the resolution supported for the external monitor.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,

    jahboo

Hey Jahboo, how did you go into nVidia control panel to change 720p? I don't see that optio in nVidia control panel, do you know exactly where it is?

In the nVidia control panel, on the left hand side, you should see an option called "Change the signal or HD format" option. It's in there.

Can't check right now but I can't see the option at the moment probably because my projector isn't connected. Connect your external display and look again.
