Hi, my new M1330 has a high-pitch noise seemingly coming from near the express card slot. So assuming it is indeed the Southbridge whine that I read a lot about in this forum, is there a solution to this? A temporarily solution can work too. I believe my motherboard version is A04, as indicated by the sticker perpendicular to the service tag sticker.

    Thanks.

i have the same problem, and i am on laptop #2. both with the same problem. motherboard A04.. Some have said that turning the bluetooth on permanently will solve the problem (by going into bluetooth properties and not allowing windows to shut it off to save power), but it doesn't work. The noise is off and on, well always on, but sometimes its much more noticeable and annoying then other times, like 5 minutes ago it was horrible, now i can't hear it. I think i will just be returning the second laptop and not get a 3rd replacement....

I'm thinking of reordering in February once Penryn is out for the same reason. I know the southbridge whine is not directly related to the processor but it has something to do with the low power states as I hear it loud only when on battery... so fingers crossed.. I'm just hoping enough changes with Penryn and I get lucky...

Oh also planning on not going anywhere about the most basic Penryn processor the 2.1ghz.... The 2.2ghz Merom on M1330 had the fan always on issue....
