I bought an adapter and hooked up the VGA output to RCA jacks to TV.
I am only getting black static, even after I adjust the resolution. Can this ever work?

    Uh... in theory, yes.

Are you sure you told your laptop to output through the VGA port in the first place?

VGA and RCA are both analog, so unlike DVI -> RCA, you shouldn't have any inherent problems...

And a black screens pretty much tells me that you didn't tell your laptop to output through the VGA port, since if you did, there should be vertical lines going across it if there are problems with the output (at least mine did, until I fixed it by lowering down the resolution).

    Fn-F8.

And don't say "input" in the subject line if you mean "output".

EDIT: mods have fixed the title.

In nvidia control panel, I tried Single, Clone, and Dualview, and lowered the resolution to 640x480.

The best I could get was in Single view, but there was no color, it was distorted and full of static, and there were like 8 small screens on the tv.

In Clone I got the same but it was distorted diagonally, and in Dualview it didn't work at all.

I plug the same RCA cable into the back of my old Inspiron 7000 and I get a perfect clone.

Try not using the nVidia control panel. Just use Fn + F8. It should change the output to VGA port only (or both, depending on your GPU).

    See if that works.

I think you need a scan converter unless the video card actually supports TV out through the VGA port.

1138 is right. i've looked into it and you need a scan converter for the m1330. check ebay for one.

Does M1330 have no TV-out port other than HDMI?
