Dell XPS M1330 Review
-
W1ck3d .... But I like mine more
PS : Red/Black/Silver interface...Na !! -
I like the way new media direct buttons work.

nifty media buttons
-
Haha, thats Andrew! I guess this is the one thats going to be in their first thoughts review due tomorrow.
-
I didn't know, only noticed it after you pointed out....
-
The 1330 makes my 1210 look so obsolete. When Andrew said it could output HD video via the HDMI port, I wonder if he means the the laptop has a built-in blu-ray drive?

nice review, anyone thinks 9cell battery users may have trouble getting a snug fit in 13" laptop bags/sleeves?
another question is how much longer can we expect the battery to last with the backlit lcd? -
Yeah, I am not sure I like the 9 cell battery design. Fitting it into existing laptop bags might prove interesting with it being now curved.
-
really nice and still waiting for full review and high res. pics
about the battey:
as dell said the battery lasts 7 hours using 9-cell battery -
As much as I want the 9-cell battery, this notebook is in my opinion way to pretty to be marred by something like that jutting out. I think I'll stick to the 6-cell and hopefully the LED display will give me over 2.5 hours.
-
A 9 cell & 6 cell battery will do me fine.
The 9 cell I would use when I do not want to show it off. But if I wanted people to look at the sexy little beast, the 6 cell will certainly acheive that without making it look strange. -
Nice review. Seriously considering this laptop IF it will include a Blu-Ray drive too

im in ur new dell laptop looking at my reflekshun
Grrr... no matte screen option. I hate glossy screens. -
I've got a full spec M1210 and the M1330 looks very nice.
I'm not sure the spec is worth me upgrading from my M1210 to be honest. Santa Rosa seems to give a 5% bump and the 8400 only seems to be slightly better than the 7400 (I'm sure 128mb dedicated will help). Blu-ray would be nice but doesn't seem to be an option just yet.
I'm also getting a bit hacked of with the 1280 x 800 resolution which now seems to be the resolution for choice for most laptops upto 15.4". I appreciate it's not Dell's fault but it would be great to have a 13" with a 1440x900 resolution.
I've come to conclusion with notebooks to always skip a generation as you don't see a big enough jump from generation to generation. I'll wait for the mid-life update.
Still for those looking for a very portable (it's not quite an ultraportable) notebook the M1330 looks to be the best there is at the moment. -
Matte screen and resolution choice are one of the areas where most notebook manufacturer's seem to let us down at the moment. Surely the majority of notebook consumers are more concerned than simply how good a dvd looks on a glossy screen? -
Glad to hear you like your MBP. I'd love a laptop with a bright (buh-bye, Thinkpad T61), non-glossy 13.3-14.1" screen and Vista Home Premium (buh-bye, Dell D630). I might have to settle for a Mac.
-
MBPs are 15". The Macbooks have glossy screens.
-
I know MBPs are 15." I haven't found a suitable 13.3-14.1" alternative! MBPs can be configured with matte or glossy.
-
Oh OK, makes sense.
