I tried to search, did not find anything that answered this. Is there any chance the m1330 will ever be offered with a 1440 x 900 (wxga+) native panel?

I have been using a 1280 x 800 on my Inspiron 700m for a few years and I have used a vaio with 1280 x 800 on a 13.3" screen and I just thought it was too big. I like high resolutions.

i believe 1280x800 is the highest res you will find on a 13.3 inch screen as of now.

No panel manufacturer makes a resolution higher than 1280x800 (well, sony has 1366x768 I believe) in a 13.3" LCD.

Yeah, I don't think any 13.3" panels offer that resolution. I don't mind at all though...that seems like way too much for such a small screen. Could you imagine 1920x1200 on a 15" screen?

No manufature make a 13.3 screen that can show a higher resolution than 1280 x 800

I think it's a reasonably high resolution for the size: it results in 113.5 ppi which is what you would get from a 15.4" 1440 x 900. Of course, if your issue is real-estate rather than detail, then you might want a higher resolution (and the eyesight to match).

Oh jeez, u want more real estate, get an external monitor or 1420... 1330 is unlikely to get a screen with higher res, not for another year or 2 with a model refresh.

I don't think it's so far-fetched when the 14.1" Inspirons support it. They're not that much bigger. I think a screen so tiny would benefit from a slightly higher native resolution on the move.

Nobody's arguing against the pro's of having an eternal monitor on the desk to support this unit, but I too think that the m1330 feels just a little bit more squashed than it should when on the road.

What the hell does that have to do with the fact that most consumers would find it uncomfortable to have such a high resolution on such a small screen.

If im understanding you correctly your saying that it should have a higher resolution because its an ultraportable. Thats not really a justifiable reason considering most notebooks don't leave the owners desk.

If someone wants 1440x900 there are a few 14" notebooks that are nearly as portable that'll satisfy them.

I don't think it is possilble for a 13.3 screen to support it

I disagree buddy. There are consumers who do value both portability and high screen real estate space. I was hoping that someone did make a 13.3" notebook with 1440 x 900, but I found out that isn't the case yet. I will probably end up settling for a 14", but I really rather have a 13 incher with the same resolution. A couple of extra inches off the footprint and a couple ounces off the weight are a big deal to me, especially after lugging around a large 15.4" notebook that I value for it's 1680 x 1050 resolution, but not for its size. Anyway, just wanted to put my thought in.

I don't have to, I'm using one right now: the inspiron 6000. I absolutely love it too. I was really pissed that Dell no longer makes 15in WUXGA notebooks.

If m1330 came in 1440x900 I'd buy it. I'd also buy a 1680x1050 14-inch notebook if one was available. Hi-res screens on small notebooks is something I'd, personally, pay a lot of money to have. Pity there aren't any available.

A 13.3" LCD screen at 1440x900 is most certainly possible, but LCD panel manufacturers won't make it because it isn't cost effective. 15.4" is the sweet spot right now for them, I believe the wholesale price of a 14.1" is actually more than a 15.4" screen.
