I have installed XP with DELLs XP sound drivers available from their support page and I have no problems at all with the sound in windows.

When starting up Battlefield 2 though I get "static pops" all the time. What is causing this?

I found threads recommending disabling the wifi and Ive done so. I disabled "a" (a/b/g) and even tried disabling the wifi module. I still get the noise.

Am I the only one with this problem?

Email EA about this and the sent me this:

    · Click the Start button in the bottom left hand corner of your Desktop.
    · Click on "Run".
    · Erase any text already in the run prompt.
    · Type in: dxdiag
    · Click the OK button.
    · Select the sound tab at the top of the tool.
    · Set the Hardware Sound Acceleration Slider to "Basic".
    · Click "Exit" in the bottom right hand corner.

Didn't work though. But it did work when I turned off Sound Acceleration completely.. incase anyone else has the same problem
