I have this constant thud noise coming from the laptop, it gets really loud when accessing the hard drive. Well, the noise isn't really that loud, it's hardly noticeable when there are some background noises. But it gets really annoying at night when it's really quiet and that thudding noise is the only thing i hear. I start getting this noise after 5 hours of light gaming with the laptop on top of a pillow, and it got really hot, was it over heated? I believe the sound is coming directly under the left palm rest. Is it the hard drive? Is it dying? Will it help if i buy a new hard drive to replace it? My m1330 is only one month old

It sounds like your hard drive is having problems. It's possible that there may be some sort of loose component that is interfering with the hard drive, causing that thudding sound. Of course, I couldn't say for certain.
Call Dell and complain. Depending on your warranty, you could either send it in for repairs or have a tech come out and fix the problem.
Rep me if I helped! :p
