I just fired up my new m1330 and it seems to run OK, but I can't get the media buttons to work. Touching and pressing does no good. Is there something I'm missing, or am I F'ed?

do the Media buttons light up at all when touched? What about the optical drive eject button?

If all buttons fail to light up when touched (no need to "press"), then there's a good chance that the interface cable got loose during transport. If you have some experience working with HW (e.g. PCs), then it's only a matter of removing two screws found on the inner-edge of the battery compartment, carefully prying the control panel up & out, flipping it over an checking the connection.

Be warned, I've never messed with such a small connector before :p

If you have no experience (or no interest to mess with your Notebook) then call the XPS Tech support and let them deal with it.

Btw, a few posts were just made / updated with links to the official service manual that will help guide you through the disassmebly process.

the connector is impossibly small and delicate to connect- best you call dell support to fix it back...
