i dont think the 2550 is worth it. if you are willing to spend 2550, you can probably buy a Compal IFL90 with better specs, even maxed out you'd probably save a couple hundred bucks. Unless you a looking for a 14" notebook, the Compal IFL90 would be a better choice.
-
yes its worth it im tired of people asking this
dont see why you whould need a n wireless card B/g is way more common and cheaper, and datasafe(buy some freaken dvds and write your data to them),aditional 9 cell battery(last about 5-6 hours with one 9 cell and the led display no 1.3 megapixels options with that. -
First, I don't really think it matters if B/G is more common. The N card can do B/G as well. He'll also be able to take advantage of N if he has it set up at home, or in the future.
Second, I wouldn't say it's not worth it, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's not that the price is too high, but if you're willing to knock the processor down to the T7100, you'll save major bucks because you'll be able to do a configuration with the Mystery 15% discount. I believe with the T7100 and coupon you'd be sitting at a price about $500 lower. To have that small processor bump isn't worth anywhere near that much. You could use that money to put in some upgrades like a 7200rpm drive, or simply save it. -
oo you sure t7100 can use the coupon ?
-
2550 and it has a 128mb video card? Heck No.
-
sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
When buying a product like the 1330, you are not paying merely for the specs. You could get far better specs at half the price. As I see it, it's the styling, LED screen, and the portability that go in favour of this notebook. You can bring down the price a bit by upgrading the RAM yourself. I guess 2000 US$ should be the right price for this config. At least that's what I am paying here in India, and it should be a tad cheaper there.
BTW, are they offering Blu Ray as an option there? -
Is the 2550 in canadian dollars or US dollars? IF US, heck NO ! If Canadian, I plead ignorance about the conversion rate. But you might want to wait for a coupon or some kind of sale on the m1330 though as it does seem overpriced esp. since it just "premiered"....
-
You also didn't "max out" the hard drive. I'd go with the 160 GB 7200 RPM HD. Also, do you need Vista Ultimate?
-
Yeah, start with the config on the mystery coupon page - that's probably why the rep you weren't allowed to use the 15% off coupon. I was able to do so fine.
To be honest, I'd have a tough time swallowing $2.5K on the laptop, despite being a very nice laptop. There are definitely some things you could tone down (CPU, perhaps OS, batteries, etc) -
I agree you are paying for the design and portability -
I know in Canada we always seem to pay more for the notebook, I would also go with the 160gb 7200rpm hdd, change the os and battery, I know with the canadian site we only have the option of the 2gb or 4gb so that can't be changed but I would stay with the cpu unless this can be upgraded later.

anyone can send me a code again 15% for me to try iam sure theres tons of it around. If it does work i'll for sure call the dell rep tell him to give 15% off my price . -
-
The dell rep said he give me a awsome deal arleady but in this case i don't think so cuz if i use the T7100 processor. Although it's slower but i get everything above and i can upgrade to a 160 HD 7200 RPM at 2482$ cdn + tax .
Obviously that dell rep just want to make the sale. I'll call him again today >< -
THIS is the page you need to go to with your coupon number. It's not that it didn't work, you just need to order from that page to do it. You can't just select T7100 on the normal page.
What you need to do is cancel your current order and then order from there. -
I am in Canada and got the following deal...
Note, the Dell Mystery Coupon 15% can be applied to processors other than the T7100 if you call online...
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7300 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB, 4MB Cache)

2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
200GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8400M GS
8X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW Drive)
Dell Wireless 1505 Wireless-N Mini-card
3 Year Next Business Day Onsite/In Home Service, CompleteCare and Tech Support

High Definition Audio 2.0
Built-in Bluetooth capability (2.0 EDR)
EXTRAS:
Dell Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Bundle
Notebook Sleeve - up to 14" - Chocolate/Blue
Basically a maxed out system...only thing I didn't include was the fingerprint reader cuz I have absolutely no use for that...plus I like the clean look of the palm rest without it.
I also wanted the 6 cell (for size purposes)...isn't that the whole point of a laptop like this? I may buy an additional 9 cell at a later date for airplane trips, etc...
All this was $2344 before tax (I got $413 off by using the 15% coupon).
Not a bad deal (I know I could have saved $40 by buying my own extra stick of RAM, but whatever...)
Snowbro -
Snowbro you call Dell to order over the phone they give you
EXTRAS:
Dell Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Bundle
Notebook Sleeve - up to 14" - Chocolate/Blue
FREE?
how can i get it haha what should i say -
They're not free.. that's just how they're displayed
Sorry to disappoint.
P.S. Cool that they added the T7300 for you snowbro but I don't think they do that anymore. I asked a couple reps and they said it had to be the T7100. They probably have more of it in stock or something. I suppose it's for the best.. I need to start saving more money for tuition -
I just placed my order here in Canada. In addition to honoring the 15% coupon, the rep knocked $150 off the 3 year complete care warranty for me.
Intel 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo
Windows Vista Home Premium Edition
Tuxedo Black Casing with Microsatin Finish XPS M1330
Slim and Light White LED Display with VGA Webcam
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
160GB SATA 5400rpm
128MB NVIDIA® GeForce Go 8400M GS
8X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW Drive)
Default Dell wireless card
3 Year Next Business Day Onsite/In Home Service, CompleteCare and Tech Support
Opted out of DataSafe
56Whr Lithium Ion Battery (6 cell)
High Definition Audio 2.0
No Bluetooth
My order came out to $2089. Wish he had offered me a sleeve though -
Do you think if i tell the rep to honor the 15% off deal. Plus give me additional discount?
-
You can try. My rep was trying pretty hard to get me to take the warranty. I initially balked, settling for the 3 yr return to depot warranty, saying I couldn't afford the extra cost of the complete care. We were on the phone for more than an hour getting the details worked out (the coupon wasn't working for him originally), and after processing the order, he made the offer for the discounted warranty.
I think it's something they hold in reserve to close a deal or upsell the warranty. If you go for it right away, I'm not sure how much incentive they have to give it to you cheaper ... I think it will depend on the rep. -
I have a feeling they're not too eager to give out discounts on the M1330. It seems like it's very popular. If you don't want to buy it at/near full price, someone else will. They can only make them so quick anyways.
-
well, maybe they wouldn't want to use a potential customer? iam willing to pay 2000+ for this laptop but if i can get 2.5k with a 15% off coupon. At least they should offer me better over the phone.
-
because i called them yesterday the price they give me with less buff up config cost me about the same. if i get use the 15% off coupon deal. I get vista everything i mention in my first post but instead of 120 GB hD i get a 200 GB HD 7200 RPM. heres the config if i use the 15% off coupon PRICE IS 2525 After everything :

Where are you all getting these 15% coupon from? Where can I get one?
-
-
nm, found one
thank you google -
I am getting the following message:
The following coupons have been entered but require additional information or do not meet eligibility requirements. Click "View Details" link(s) for more information.
Only say it expires July 13.. I selected a customize version of the m1330. Any idea why I am getting this message? -
The coupon you're trying to use may have already been used by someone (they're one-shot deals).
The coupon was also sent to Air Miles newsletter subscribers (I've never bought a Dell product but I got a 15% coupon this way and am thinking of making the m1330 my first). -
-
When I used it earlier today, I had to enter the coupon first, then select from the notebook link they provided, and then customize from there. You can't customize first and apply the coupon.
-
responsible877, make sure you're using this link to order:
http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/mystery_coupon?c=ca&cs=cadhs1&l=en&s=dhs -
Yeah, you have to use it from the Mystery Promotion page and be certain that your coupon wasn't already used. It may well have already been used if you found it in Google. Go check out RedFlagDeals' forums. Many users have posted coupons they're not using.

Seems like Dell's been overly successful - the rep I spoke to yesterday told me they've been selling like hotcakes. I wouldn't doubt him judging by the activity around here. -
Just call another Sale rep (not the same one i had earlier), told them the 15% and show him my account b/c i saved in my chart. He honered and willing to upgrade my CPU to T7300 and give me primary 6 cell instead of 4 cell. And everything above keep the same. After talking to him for an hour . After be able to get it for 2500 + tax after 15% off with the coupon. It's not a bad deal. i figure
so basicly i got extra 25 dollar off AND UPgrade to T7300 and replace a 6 cell instead of 4 cell
1) what do you think ? it's pretty max out on everything right now.
2) Does Dell canada offer 1 year lo Jack anti theif on every xps they sell? -
yes they removed from the link >< too bad for those who want to buy it . sigh
-
Ugh. They let you upgrade your 4-cell ot a 6-cell? No matter what I said, they were adamant that a 6-cell + 9-cell was just not possible. I mean they sell them individually, who not together? *sigh*
Yeah, bummer that the M1330 is no longer listed as eligible for the mystery coupon deal. -
i just ask him he said Okie to 6 cell, i didn't even want to make the point that the deal iam getting with the 15% only include 4 cell . maybe it's just diff rep has diff way of doing things.
yea the combo iam getting right now is 6 + 9 cell addition
but u think my config right now is worth it ? although i can afford it and i save alot but the system still expensive hahah -
stupid dell rep , each rep i talk to i get a different deal
M1330 config in this price is it worth it?
