    Hi guys,

My M1330 arrived on Monday I just now realized that the keyboard has a bulge in the center (very, very small bulge). Is it worth have a tech dismantle everything to fix the problem or should I just live with it?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

I don't think you should just live with any annoying little problem with a brand new machine. You paid for a properly working laptop and I think you should have one. Were the issue mine, I'd contact Dell and see about a replacement. From what I've read about Dell, this issue shouldn't be too hard to resolve.

its up to you mate. if they keyboard still works, and it doesn't annoy you, then leave it.

but if it annoys you or interferes with usage of the keyboard, then get it replaced/fixed!

Is the bulge large enough that the keys touch the screen panel? Some have said that the keys are scratching their screens

You paid big bucks for a PREMIUM line of Dell notebooks. Don't you think you deserve a defect free product?

Pop the keyboard off. There is probably a wire that is slightly loose. I've seen that happening a lot on all brands of laptops, easy to fix too.

My main concern is having the tech come out and end up putting scratches or worse. I was one of the lucky people who had the I9300 screen defect. They replaced the screen but my 9300 now has cuts and scratches all over it from the careless tech.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

This is fixable without Dells assistance. Not doing so could result in the pressure from the raised keys scratching the Truelife coating from portions of your LCD.

    Hi guys,

I ended up removing the keyboard myself and fixing the wires underneath. However now I have another problem. It appears that the keyboard is slightly warped where the bump was. Should I just ask dell to send a new keyboard?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

Yes. You don't want that keyboard scratching your screen.

Alright, so I called Dell earlier today and they are sending out a tech to replace the following:

    1) Keyboard
    2) Palm rests
    3) Hinge assembly
    4) Display (CCFL)
    5) Display plastics/webcam

I asked if it wouldn't be easier to just send a new system and the guy said there wasn't enough wrong with my current system to justify sending a new machine. I hate to break it to them but if there is even one scratch after the tech is finished they'll be sending more plastics...

This is my first XPS system and so far the XPS support hasn't impressed me one bit.

    Thanks,
    Andrew
