Does anyone know the additional power burden (or drop in full-charge batery life) with the Nvidia GPU vs. the Intel X3100. This is regarding general Windows Vista usage and perhaps watching video, not when playing games.

Unless the x3100 has even better battery life, the 8400M GS is ultra spectacular. On my 1420 on lowest brightness and continuously typing on word for the whole time, I get at least 5 hours, maybe 6. If leaving the computer on for the whole time but with the display off, I've gotten 9+ hours (not really realistic though, as you can't really do anything when the display is off o_o).

Intel X3100 gives a little more battery life than the discrete card.

I've gotten around 4 hours with medium-high screen brightness with the Nvidia card.

intel does give more battery hours, but does struggle on videos is what I've read.

i got the x3100 since i dont game at all, and videos are smooth. nothing wrong with it at all. i know, i have it. and youtube is my homepage. i also get 4 hours average, 4:20 tops, on my 6 cell m1330 (i use dachshund battery doubler, but this might conflict with the dachshund hare im using too).
