After reading many reports of motherboard issues with the M1330, is there any reason I should be concerned about buying a new/unopened one, from a reputable seller, on ebay? They are listed as new, not refurbished and unopened. However could these be units with older motherboards? Since the posters on this board see quite knowledgeable, I am wondering what is the general opinion is.

Hokum, thanks for your input. I've looked at Dell outlet, but the ebay units seem to be slightly better configured. I guess I was looking for any personal experience buying similar units on ebay. I should mention I've bought tons of stuff on ebay for years. My main concern is if you have a product that has clearly had a design defect (motherboard), are the ebay units likely to be better or worse than what Dell is selling directly?

My main concern with buying a "new" laptop from eBay is that yes it is just as likely to have any of the standard defects/flaws as one from Dell. But if the defect is truly bad, what recourse do you have to get it fixed? Not sure how Dell handles warranty/etc. for not original owners and mr. ebay vendor isn't likely to be able to help you out much.

edit: I got mine from the outlet and it's near perfect except I can see the "teeth" at the top of the LCD when at the right angle, but that hardly bothers me and the price was right. I have been keeping track of the Dell outlet for the past couple days, and I've noticed they don't have any of the higher spec'd 1330s anymore (ie: mine is pretty muched loaded, T7500, 4gb, 200GB 7200 rpm free-fall, Vista Ultimate being the most expensive options)

The units I looked at had extended Dell warranties that were listed as transferable. If the seller is reputable, I am guessing the warranty would indeed be transferable. This is one of the main points I was looking for feedback on. Has anyway bought a Dell computer on ebay and had the warranty transfered to them, then had Dell honor it?
