Hello all,
I have got this real annoying message keep popping up when I plug my TV through the HDMI port or use my USB HDD Key on either of the two USB ports.. it's saying this device can perfom faster if plugged into a enhanced host controller. Now I know I can disable this message but thats not the point, I want to get these ports working at 2.0 because I thought that the 2 USB ports on the side of the XPS M1330 were USB 2.0? or have I installed something wrong? I have installed the latest chipset drivers from the Dell website and have the latest motherboard update. A07.
Screenshot included.
Any help to get this working under 2.0 would be much apprciated.
I'm using Windows Vista 64
Thanks in advance.
PS - I know I can get the Biometric Coprocessor working, just havent bothered sorting that out yet.

That I don't understand. I sometimes got that message too, but it was a pointless one, since my motherboard has plenty (all alike) USB ports.
Yes, those ports are USB 2.0. -
My understanding is that, regardless of the type(s) and number of USB ports in the system, there is a standard (1.1) controller for 1.1 devices and an enhanced (2.0) controller for 2.0 devices.
There is a USB bug that comes up sometimes even on a machine like the M133O where all the ports are USB 2.0 ports, that a device will be controlled by the standard (1.1) controller instead of the enhanced controller (2.0).
If unplugging the device, restarting then replugging doesn't work, try unplugging all USB devices and then removing everything you see in Device Manager under USB and then rebooting. Windows should redetect the USB controllers and, then, when you plug your device back in, it should correctly be controlled by the enhanced (2.0) controller. -
Have you installed the latest Intel chipset drivers?
I have come across this problem, and installing the chipset drivers sorted it out. -
The driver you installed may be X64 but I don't believe is the correct driver for the M1330. I believe it is the Ricoh set that is required.
-
I have both chipset and ricoh drivers installed and still the problem persists
I think its something to do with the inbuilt camera, sometimes I see the blue light flash then shortly after the message pops up, it could be that or maybe it could be the keyboard or mouse? It's in the device manager called HID Keyboard Device and HID-compliant Mouse.
No idea really, but would like to figure this one out if possiable.
Thanks for the help those who have responsed.
