Plenty of people are waiting for their M1330 to materialise after all sorts of stories as to why the roll out is so slow. Dell could be said to be a victim of its own success, but the customer service so far has been extremely poor, with unilateral cancellations, contradictory stories about part supplies and so on.
If you post your initial order date and write what happened after that I'd like to forward the url of this thread to Direct2Dell so that they have a record of what happened. If you cancelled your M1330 after all the problems, please put this in capitals at the top, so they know how much business they lost.
Apart from this, I'm not going to post any other comments on this thread, just forward it to Dell and they can make their own conclusions.

On the 27th of June I attempted to order the following:
Dell m1330
T7500 Processor
2GB Ram
Nvidia 8400GS Video
WLED Screen with VGA camera
Aluminum palm rest with fingerprint scanner
802.11N Upgrade
Windows Vista Business
however Dell's website for APAC was broken so I could not place the order until the 3rd of July.
Dell took payment from my Visa on the 4th and I had an estimated delivery date of the 20th.
On the 16th this changed to the 24th, on the 22nd this changed to the 26th, and yesterday it changed to August the 8th.
I called Dell yesterday and they told me that the parts would not be in until September the 10th.
I also did a build based on their current offer, and for $20 less I would have the same machine but with a free bluetooth mouse and an extra 2GB of ram!
I emailed the rep about this and the fact they had taken my money before the order was even in the build stage, and they told me their manager would call me today which never happened.
This has been EXTREMELY frustrating for me as I needed the laptop ON the 21st and Dell let me down 3 times! On top of this they add insult to injury and offer a better package for less money when they took my money 3 weeks ago and my machine is not even in build stage!
This seems to be a "paper" release as no one seems to have actually received an m1330.
I just emailed Dell to cancel my order, I will never buy Dell again that is for sure! -

I doubt he is from the UK, he is offered the aluminum palmrest, not aluminium

Ordered an M1330 July 6th, canceled ordered on July 6th and ordered a 1420 on July 7th, canceled the 1420 once I realized it didn't have a HDMI port and went back with the 1330 on July 9th. I was told by Paula, my rep, that their computers ship within 2 weeks, I said, well isn't there a long lead time so she looked it up and said, well the computer generated date is Aug 29th but that is the computer generated date and isn't a factual date. I asked, once it hits the build stage, how long does it take, she responded, 3-5 days. At this current time, I am working on 7 BUSINESS days of being in the build stage.
I have since called Dell multiple times and I even spoke to a supervisor, Mr. Brad Kline, who told me that he would rush my order and it would be here before the end of July. Yesterday, I called in and spoke with Amanda (an Indian rep) who was actually the nicest person I have spoken to at Dell who told me that she would give me next business day shipping at no charge and she would 'expedite' my order. She then transferred me to her manager who assured me that he would contact the mfg plant and make sure it was expedited. He then verified that Dell would ship it NBD at no charge to me. I checked my order status online about an hour after talking with Amanda and my order showed NBD shipping.
I have been looking at many options for replacing my 1330 but have yet to be satisfied on anything except the SZ6, but from what I understand that won't be available for sale for another week. I am buying the M1330 without even looking at it and I own and work on enough Dell's but I have been unsatisfied with this recent transaction. I believe Dell should have had a better grasp on materials before they launched the M1330. -
I placed my order on July 17th, and saw that the expected ship date was just shy of 2 months. At first I thought let me wait it out to see if others begin getting their m1330's before I do anything. Unfortunately, its been more than 3 weeks since the introduction of the laptop and it still seems like no one has theirs yet.
Frustrated, and bewildered that something like this has happened, I opted to cancel my order and get my 2nd choice, the MacBook Pro. Sure I'd lose a bit of mobility, but I'd be getting better parts for the same price as the m1330 I configured. Apple's ship date is much more reasonable, at August 1st.

There are lots and lots of guesses as to what exactly is going wrong. There are a few constants that we must all realize in all of these.
The first.... the CSR Reps are being left in the dark. This is a fact which goes on and on and on. We need to wonder at some point if there is a reason for this. Ive heard war stories on this forum of no less than 20 plus supposed reasons.
The second...not one person has received a system as of yet.
The third...even with the runours, there are constants that keep reappearing. These include, for the most part LED issues and bluetooth issues. We cant relate the fact that other countries arent being offered the LED to Canada/US whatsoever. Its just like that.
The fourth...even when the initial systems are received and because of the sku problems already identified, we cannot be shocked if there are problems with initial orders.
And the dreaded fifth... Dell has lived through this exact situation many times before and only increased in sales. They went through exactly the same last year at this time with another system being delayed because of sku issues. There is abs nothing we can do but wait...or leave
And we know what Murphys Law is like.
All in all we still arent a full month from the initial start date of the production line of this system, a system set to revolutionize the 13.3 industry.
Im sure we will all feel much better if someone receives and posts one shortly, identifying that there are no problems and the system works great. -
OK guys. I have cancelled my order for the M1330. Instead I bought a macbook pro.
Dell is outrageous and I can't stand them anymore.
I ordered my m1330 on 6/30 in Singapore.
1st shipping date: 7/19
2nd shipping date: 7/23
3rd shipping date 7/27
4th Shipping date 7/30
I called them up today and they said there are 4 part shortages for my notebook and that the last of the 4 parts would only come on 8/10.
I felt it was outrageous to wait 1.5 months for a laptops. Therefore I cancelled it.
Thank you dell for making me wait 20+ days for nothing. -
I ordered my m1330 on 6/29 in Singapore.
1st shipping date: 7/17
2nd shipping date: 7/20
3rd shipping date 7/23
4th Shipping date 7/27
5th Shipping date 7/30
Called Dell up after a 3rd shipping date was given, was told that the shortage part, the wled screens will come on the 7/27. And that my m1330 will reach me by the 1st week of Aug.
I called them up today and now they that the wled will only come on 8/10 and that is just an estimate. This is outrageous! It takes more than 1.5 month to get a laptop?!
Dell should pay me interest for the payment I made for the m1330...
I'm contemplating of cancelling my order. Any suggestions for an alternative laptop? -
You could also take a look at the Sony SZ6. That is similar in size and weight to the m1330. Others have looked at the Lenovo Thinkpad T61 as well. Hope that helps.

btw to those of you who are wondering what's up with your card getting charged when you place the order (as opposed to waiting until it ships)- if Dell is like most, they secure an initial authorization for the purchase amount, then release it soon thereafter. Only actually charge once it ships.

Dell was kind enough to call me at 1am to tell me that there's a palmrest shortage. Umm, there shouldn't be unless there was over like 10,000 orders the first hour. Besides, my buddy's has been delivered and he ordered his on the 5th of July. I ordered the 26th of June...same specs.

I have to keep an eye out on my credit card to make sure Dell doesn't charge me for the order I cancelled. Seeing several people get charged the moment they place the order has me worried.
