Sorry if this has been bought up and I have tried searching the forums.

But I was wondering am I able to use safely my 65 watt power supply that I use on my Dell 700m with my XPS M1330. Everything seems to be the same with watts, hertz range, output in volts.

Except the power supply on my 700m says imput 1.5A, and the XPS says 1.6A.

    Both output 19.5v 3.34A

the round plug goes in and fit snug, and it powers it without any warnings.

I have a feeling that Dell would have made the plug totally different if they didn't want you to use the old ones, but I take no responsibility that this is the case.

Dell's have a habit of warning you before the system boots up if the power supply attached is not suitable, or is but will run at reduced performance.

I have just spent the last 2 hours using my old 65w 700m power supply to run and recharge the M1330 battery without any issue. Same heat as when used in the 700m.

Jimmy, in my company, we've got all kinds of DELL adapters, but the two that fit fine (other than the one that comes w/ the m1330) are the 65W and the 90W power supplies that we use for our various latitudes and 700m's in our company. I have used both power supplies on my m1330 ever since I got it (last week Thursday), and I have not run into any problems. On one day, I had the 65W made for a Latitude D620 plugged in for an entire work day (8 hours), and another day, I had a 90W plugged in all day.

I agree that if DELL did not allow you to use them on other laptops, there would be a warning message or it wouldn't even physically fit.

I hope this eases your fears.
