my internet connection is constantly dropping but my local connection to my router remains connected. What is the right setting for both my router and wireless card to achieve a good connection?

    XPS M1330
    Dell wireless 1505
    Windows VIsta ultimate
    Linksys WRT300N version 1
    firmware 1.03.6

    Thanks

Because the 802.11n specification has not been standardized yet, you're going to run into problems like this.

1 out of 4 routers I try to connect to won't work because of the draft-n card in my m1330. I'm almost regretting getting it over the IntelABG.

Do you have any wifi security options enabled? I have the Intel 4965 n card and a DLink DIR-655 N (draft 2.0) router. In order for the Intel 4965 card to connect at N speed, I have to use AES cipher with either WPA or WPA2 (I'm using WPA2), or no security at all. TKIP cipher or WEP will only connect at G speed. I don't know if this is related to your wireless dropping, but it's worth a shot. I would actually disable all wifi security then go from there.
