I like to know if it's somewhat future proof as in I can upgrade the CPU later on to something with a bigger FSB and Cache.

    Thanks

    The T5550 is socket P.

Note that upgrading your CPU will void your warranty with Dell.

It's socket P. There is no such thing as socket 478m.

    There is socket 478 (pentium 4), 479 (pentium m), M (core duo/core 2 duo/pentium Dual core) and P (core 2 duo/pentium Dual core), all with 478 pins.

Socket 478m is an unofficial name, made by users.

So, with the 5550, whats the CPU's I can upgrade to?
I know it'll void the warrenty, but seeing as I only have a 1 year warrenty, I won't be doing it for a while yet. :)

You sir have made my day. :)
    Thanks.

Oh and one more thing, TDP? Thermal Design Power?
I'm new to Notebook, but just to be clear, all the processors you mention will work with my M1330 TDP?

Duly noted sir. Glad to see that I'm using a Socket P MOBO in this laptop. Somewhat future proof. :)

I've always been a computer moder, but has always been with Towered computers. should be interesting when the time comes to upgrade. :)

    +1 Rep for you :)

IT's not too hard, at least for those I've dissasembled (some Asus's and some Fujitsu Siemens's). Dell has instructions. And unless dell has a sticker that says "Warrant void if removed", I think your warrant will be ok, so long as you don't break anything while removing and installing the cpu, and the fault isn't the CPU's, you'll be fine.
