I got my M1330 2 days ago. The MB revision says A00 (under the battery)

When I turned it on with Vista I could clearly hear cpu whine and it was quite annoying. Now I installed XP and I haven't heard any CPU whine at all. What does this mean?

I'm not sure whats causing CPU whine but I've read about 4 different C modes which makes changes in the CPU to save power (changes the voltage) and that causes the whine.

Is there a possibility my CPU is running at full speed in XP all the time and that's the reason why I haven't heard any CPU whine?? OR doesn't it matter which OS you use? How do I find out.

    Thank you

Windows XP doesn't have as many options in power and hard drive settings as Vista I don't think, so there is a lot more to configure in a Vista machine to compensate for the CPU whine. There have been solutions (search forum) that require to you disable or enable certain settings in Vista in BIOS I believe but I use XP so I don't know much about it. Hopefully someone will provide you with steps to help. Good luck. :)
