    Hi all,

So I recently upgraded the ram on my M1330 to 4gb and decided to do a reformat and reinstall of vista. The install and format went okay (after a couple of hicups) and all the drivers are upto date. but after I installed the vista updates, all of them - important, recommended and optional, my system became very unstable, blue screens all over the place. So I started again but this time installing only the important updates, which I think has improved the stability of vista.

My question is, what settings does everyone else use for vista updates? Do you automatically install any that come up or just the important ones? Do you ever bother with the recommended & optional ones, such as drivers, or do you ignore them completely?

Thanks for any response in advance. :)

    Hi,
You seem to be just the gentleman that I need to help me.

I have an Aspire 9504WSMi which came with Windows XP.
My company purchased an upgrade to Vista Business (not via Acer)
I installed the new upgrade without problem. However, some of the drivers required updating and I download some from the ACER site (which is certainly not Vista user friendly) but the remainder I cannot find. It would seem that Acer only want to help if you had purchased to upgrade to Vista from them!!

For example: Acer TV tuner (built in digital and analog hybrid TV tuner (HW MPEGII) and the 'Arcade' both of which were specific requirements when I purchased the machine, which was supposed to be 'Windows Vista capable'.

My Vista software is up to date with the available updates.

Is it a case of the machine not being capable, if so is there an updated motherboard available (to fit the existing case) or can you point me in the right direction to sort out my problems?

Any help that you or anyone else can give me would be very much appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    Yoyosteve (newbe)

Hi there in your case you may find a similar system by Acer which may Have Vista drivers which might just get you out of your problem. Or if you can identify the manufactures of said missing drivers you may also be able to download drivers from their site.
Best thing to do is to post a new topic in the Acer forum and list missing drivers and /or hardware.

    @BlackRussian

Which 2 Updates didn't you install? I know KB943899 is known to cause problems but I haven't heard of any others.

BTW, the fix for ...899 is real easy. You just install the Intel ACHI drivers. Downloadable from Dell support, included in the Matrix Storage manager package.

Instructions have been posted here within the past couple of weeks

My friends XPS would BSOD when he tried to install vista, he had 4 gb or ram. He took out one stick,to go to 3gb and it installed fine,no blue screen. Then he placed the extra gig back in.
