Sometimes sleep just doesn't work, I close the lid and the screen turns off but the hard drive is still running. I open the lid and the laptop doesn't wake up. I press the power button and nothing happens. I have to hold down the power button, restart to get vista going again.

I recently did a clean install of vista, which may or may not have anything to do the above problem.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

i think this is an issue with windows vista itself. you can use the search option on this forum to check for the same problem in another thread.

Do you have latest updates from Microsoft and latest video drivers?

kamote: indeed, a lot of people have sleep problems with Vista

Yep, all drivers and windows updates are up to date.

Also, occassionally shutdown freezes as well (not as often as the sleep problem). It says "shutting down" and the circle goes round and round forever...

This is kinda on topic, umm when I close my m1330, it goes into sleep. And then when I open up the lid, it doens't do anything. Isn't it supposed to auto start resuming when the lid is open? or do I have to press the power button everytime?

    thanks

its an issue with nvidia drivers and vista - search the forums update your driver to 163.01 and hibernate and sleep should be fine. otherwise post back as it might be other problems that are causing this

    Hi all,

I think the driver I'm currently using is 156.69 (I'm at work at the mo, so I can't check), its the one you get from windows update.

I assume 163.01 is not a official driver (you got it from www.laptopvideo2go.com?) - is this the most stable driver released? (I know there are more recent drivers)
I'm not really a gamer, so as long as its stable, I'll be happy.

I'm not a gamer either and I'm using this driver. It's the first driver I've used which allows the sleep function to work properly.

Okay, I'm probably being really dense here, but I can't find the 163.01 driver on www.laptopvideo2go.com. I see 162.65 & 163.11 all the way upto 169.09 but not 163.01.

Could some kind soul, please post a direct link?

You dont have to use 163.01! You can use 163.11, or 169.01, etc! I'm currently using 169.01 and it works fine!

But REMEMBER to download the modified .inf file, otherwise setup will just say it cant find drivers for your hardware!

download 163.11 or whatever, extract it, quit the setup, download the modified .inf file for that version of driver, then overwite the original one (it will be in the folder you extracted the files to) with the modified one, then run setup.exe, and it will work like a charm!

My M1330 turns itself off when I close the lid, and when I open the lid, it boots back into windows without having to press any buttons...

    Hi all,

My Vista sleep problem is fixed! I stumbled on this thread while googling for a solution, I followed the instructions and my laptop now sleeps and wakes up properly.

Thanks to everybody who replied to my post. :)
