I ordered a 4 cell + 8400, and I never realized till recently that I actually got a 6 cell. Anyone with the 4 cell + 8400? Is it the battery life that bad in the real world? I don't travel and just use my laptop primarily around the house, so I would like to have it as light as possible. Thanks!

Its not sold with the 4 cell any longer because the LED with the 4 cell put a huge drain in battery drainage.

I realize that, but I'm sure if I asked, Dell would send me my 4 cell. I just want to know if its worth switching. Is it that bad? I know its 33% less time

They wont send you the 4 cell with your order. I went through this and they switched me to 9/9 and I had to explain that i wanted the four...ended up w/ 6.

I thought the LED was supposed to use less power.

The graphics card makes more than enough to make it up

i believe it is more to do with safety - with the exploding batteries that you hear off is due to the strain of the discharge/charge rate of the battery.

The 4 cell works fine with the 8400 and LED, and it doesn't say anywhere not to use it with that combination. My system did not come with it, but I ordered it separately. Interestingly, I don't see it on Dell's system anymore, other than ordering it with a "compatible" system

The battery life (watching a movie) on balanced was like 1.5 hours, the one time I tried it; with power saver, but with WI-FI/BT enabled, it was like 2 hours. I think.

I take no responsibility if your laptop explodes on you, though.
