I'm going to ask for some advise before I jump into this.

Anyway, presently, my M1330 runs extended off a dell 22" LCD via HDMI. I notice the fan is used alot more when the external is plugged in.

Is there a way to run my 15" LCD off my serial port as well to run 3 screens???

The m1330 will only support TWO displays at a time.

    Internal Panel and HDMI
    Internal Panel and VGA
    VGA and HDMI

The only possible way you might be able to extend it would be to buy a USB VGA adapter.....although I'm not sure how well it would work.

The Matrox Dual/tripleHead2Go boxes work wonders, but Khris is right about display support from the notebook itself without extra hardware.

theres no serial port on an M1330

i don't think 65 watts is enough to power up the gpu to send out three signals

@liquidplasma6: I think he meant the VGA port :)

Yes he did mean the VGA port...

HDMI works like a charm though on both the 22 and my
    50" plasma.

This is probably not the same thing as I think you need another PC to drive the extra monitor... but see:
    http://realtimesoft.com/ultramon/
    and
    http://www.maxivista.com/

(I was planning something like this to utilize the screen of my 9 year old Vaio - but someone had the bright idea of giving it to my 2 year-old as a toy.)

Nalada, these are not the same thing. Maxi-vista is a utility to use another laptop AS an additional monitor and works over the local network and ultramon is just a utility to extend the desktop over multiple monitors better (show the extended task bar for example and position them more intuitively.) For what they are, they are great (and I use both) but unless I misunderstand the problem Flamenko is raising, these are not a solution for it.
