Once or twice a day my screen goes completely dark and the only way I've found to restore it is to go into Standby mode and then power up.

I also have a situation where the fan will sometimes stay on for several minutes and during that time the computer is unusable.

Has anyone else experienced any of these issues?

Sounds like you might have a heat issue. Consider blowing the vents out with compressed air. Although, in this case, you might have sucha buildup that you may have to partially disassemble your notebook in order to clean it.

As far as the fan issues-you can compare it to an overhead that has the fan stay on after it's turned off to cool the bulb.

I've only had the computer a couple of months. The fan thing happened a lot when I first got the computer (which was new) and now it only happens occasionally.

I just remembered that sometimes the CPU usage for Internet Explorer is really high and that is probably causing the heat issue.
