    What the hell, Dell?

I've been waiting for a 15" XPS since... forever. Now that it's finally out I find out that the only available resolution is 1280 x 800? Isn't that the standard on like... 12" laptops or something? Seriously Dell, we're entering 2008 soon, time to get with the effing times.

last time i checked nearly all consumer notebooks are WXGA. sony, HP, ACER, toshiba etc etc. im pretty sure that is still the most popular resolution on a 15inch notebook...........some would even call it a standard.

It's not acceptable when both consumer and business lines offer higher resolution 15.4" screens for as long as they've been out, but Dell can't manage that for their premium XPS notebook. I'm sure they're coming though, but I'm surprised they can't manage to launch with those options when the screens should be abundantly available.

I agree... its a Dell scam since they can't get their production in line...

Trying to make some easy money off the popularity of the M1330... then once consumers learn and stop buying they'll release the better screen here...

Your speculations make you look really stupid. They need special screens manufactured for the m1530.. These screens are thinner then the standard screens used in laptops.

    Jack asses..

If Dell are such scam artists and suck and out of date WHY DO YOU KEEP LOOKING OR BUYING THEM? Grow up - you're stupidity is clouding you're logic.

    Theres no prize for ignorance.

    I wouldn't be complaining.

Grainy screens anyone? It's a new line, Dell is probably ****ting themselves over the problems they've had. I don't think they would like to like that problem to happen again.

Anyone who says otherwise is just plain wrong. If this gets out, it'll be a HUGE PR disaster.

Ugh, well, I was hoping to get the M1530 for this holiday season, but there's no word when higher resolutions will be available. I'll wait a bit longer, but I think I'll just have to settle with 1280 x 800.

Not everyone needs high res screen, you know :D Although it is really a bummer for them not to include that option soon enough...

If I had more money and didn't buy the Vostro, would've gone for the XPS 1530 honestly :D

Just be patient guys. At least wait for the review to see if it's actually any good, even with average res screen. :)

I suspect that Dell is really trying to keep a tight handle on quality control with this new notebook, and don't want a repeat of the whole Inspiron grainy screen catastrophe and fiasco. They will probably introduce new screens only when they feel that their supplies are of good enough quality and quantity, and their own quality control checks are ready to roll to meet demand. Of course this may be only wishful thinking, but I could be right, I have a feeling about it! :p

My estimated ship date on my 1530 is the 19th of this month but it may arrive sooner. When I get it, I plan to test out the display quality with movies, games, and productivity software. I have no doubt that everything will be fine on that resolution unless there are actual display flaws. I'll be happy if there is no graniness(sp?) as seen in the 1330 display and minimal light leakage.
