I just received a replacement M1530 today and it had BIOS revision A07 on it. Any word on what was changed or fixed? I cannot find it on Dell's support site at all.

I thought A05 was the most recent BIOS for the M1530. Did Dell skip A06?

I too just checked Dell support and the latest greatest is indeed A05, released on 12/5/2007. Strange...

I have to say.. Dell does not do a good job releasing updates for the systems that they make. Wouldn't you assume that they would post the update on the support page if they are utilizing it on all the new systems that they are shipping out? Same goes for the video drivers.

My new M1530 (arrived on Feb 12th) has Bios version A07.

It was built in Malaysia if that helps.

Someone with A06 or A07, does Intel Virtualization technology show up as an option in the BIOS?

    Thanks.

Same here, I went into support to update mine and saw that. I figured since I just got mine last Friday, they must have updated it with A07 before it was shipped?
Anyway, I held off downloading anymore drivers untill I know what is going on.

    Incorrect.

Systems ordered in the UK and certain parts of Europe are built in Limerick, Ireland.

That's interesting, I wonder why they would do that (on a cost basis)?

    Thanks for the insight.

No, I don't see anything about the Intel Virtualization technology.

For those of you interested, I recieved my M1530 this week with the A07 bios. I popped in a x9000 chip with no problem, so I am guessing that the bios update is infact penryn support.

They usually include minor or occasionally major fixes and can add support for new components such as a new CPU / blu-ray/dvd-rw combo drive.

I just received my M1530 today and it has A07.

I looked in the resource disk for you but couldn't find anything.

It is strange it is not on the dell site, even tech support were puzzled as to why it only shows A05... I was on the phone to them earlier as my webcam don't work.

A07 may be to accommodate Penryn and may not have any significant changes for existing machines, so Dell may be slow about posting it. Did you get your webcam fixed?

When and where did you get that info? I'm not going to do a clean install and do those "tweaks" until that version A07 comes out.

My internal contact at Dell told me when I enquired about the missing A07 version on the driver section of the website. I also came to know that there is an internal A06 version which, will not be released to consumers. This revision was used for testing Penryn processors!

Nah, its either broke or not been connected properly in the LCD screen; which is a shame as its not nice when brand new equipment arrives broke and obviously not properly tested.

They are arranging an engineer to come out and replace it - so that will do for now. Phoned XPS 24/7 support and got through to a Canadian lady - first time I had spoken to Dell support not based in India.

Just hope they dont replace the screen as it's an LG and I am very happy with it.

That was one of the reasons I gave up on HP as you couldn't talk to anyone in USA, it was always someone in INDIA with a HEAVY accent you couldn't understand, as HP support is over there. I had sent my HP back to be repaired 3 times in 3 weeks and got tired of the lack of communication (INDIA) so it was "Good Bye HP, Hello Dell". I sure hope I don't have to deal with INDIA again with Dell?
