Just wondering since theres no info on the local Dell webpage. Is the drive a Blu-ray ROM or RW ? And does it burn DVDs ?

it will burn regular dvd's but i highly doubt its a blu ray burner... those are still up there in price..

I doubt it is a RW since majority of the people purchasing a laptop usually don't record/burn in HD since majority don't have HD cameras. But if you are ripping blu-ray movies illegally...shame on you lol. Sorry I had to say it...

I sort of assumed it was a Blu-Ray burner since it says "read, write, and playback hours of high quality, HD video." I bought it, but given that Blu-Ray media is still expensive -- $30/disc, I think -- I haven't had any interest in burning anything yet.
Also, people are already illegally ripping Blu-Ray movies. It's just that they save it to a HDD. I am not advocating that, since it is illegal, but I know it to occur. -
Yes, it is a Blu-Ray burner, Dell has a separate option for their Inspiron systems that specifies that it only reads BDs.

For $500 extra it better be able to burn too...
