I have seen some posts/threads about the keyboard hitting the screen. Mine didn't until I started packing it in the backpack which was quite full. I noticed yesterday there were scuffs in the middle of the screen which wiped off. I was putting the thin flim that it was packed with, but got lazy the past 3 times. So now, I will put that thin flim in-between the screen & keyboard when packing it from now on. That seems to solve that problem.... a slight hassel. BUT it shouldn't happen at all.
I will have to add this in my review that is in my sig.

When you over stuff your backpack of course the laptop will "compress" more. Just carry the laptop separately next time with it's included case. Next time you might have a cracked screen instead!

You have a valid point. Maybe I'll just leave some stuff home or pack my camera gear separately. Or do like you say, carry the notebook by itself in it's sleeve.... even though that is a hassel.

A lot of laptops have very little clearance between the keyboard and the screen so that the screen is contacted if the laptop is compressed in a backpack or briefcase. My Thinkpad X60 does this. So I ordered a Shaggymac screen protector for the Thinkpad and the M1530, which I always use when transporting them.

Possibly try adding some of those clear rubber door-stops from kitchen cabinets strategically around the screen?

Easiest and cheapest solution everyone can use...stick a piece of computer paper on the keyboard before you shut the lid.

You should check out lappymats.com or shaggymac.com, or radtech.us. They all carry these LCD screen protectors which are basically pieces of ultramicro fiber clothes. Definetly worth the 12-14 bucks that it costs.

P.S. You can use them as a microfiber cleaning cloth as well...

just take your xps screen cleaning cloth (that you got with the 1530)- fold it in half - lay it over the keypad area when closing the laptop lid. I do that before I put it in my bag everytime. saves money and my screen.

Aren't rubber stops on the screen itself to prevent that? Mine has them.

I bought one. It is a waste of money. Seriously, a piece of paper works wonders.

Yeow! That wouldn't go with white at all! What you go and get an Apple mouse for anyway? Most mice out there are gray/black... so get one!
Here is another pix of that mouse I painted.
