Chi Mei are also the makers of Mirai LCD TVS and they are great quality. I have their 32"

Am sure their LCD screens will be just a good quality.

Samsung is apparently used in the great looking Apple cinema display also makes the poor quality M1530 WSXGA+ panel...

What quality a manufacturer produce in one product is not a guarantee it will be the same in another product... :)

I did search, read that thread, and saw no mention of grainy screens, which does not mean that there aren't any. So I asked a question.

EDIT: There is one post from ApocNarok which says that poster had no issues with grainy screen, but that obviously doesn't speak for all of the screens, as there are also posters who say that they have no issue with the samsung screens.

Rude? You think it's rude to advise using the search function when you as the original poster didn't offer any clue you had searched... You have seen nothig yet...

I edited that out because I over-reacted, and I'm sorry - I just found it offensive that you assumed I hadn't searched and guided me to a thread that didn't hold a definitive answer to my question. It was overboard - which is why I edited it out. I apologize.

I have an M1530 with CMO LED Panel, its almost as grainy as the M1530 I sent back that had an AUO.
All manufacturers of LCD displays have the potential of cranking out grainy Panels,I've had 2 T61's and a Dell 1525 within the last 60 days that had LG's and guess what...grainy to o_On the other hand as an example, just recieved A new ASUS U3 with a CMO LED Display, its a beauty, luck of the draw.

I have the LED panel. Mine is perfect. My only complaint would be. There needs to be a brightness step between blind you to death (top level) and the next brightness level.
OTher then that, its perfect and I love it.

Totally agree with you,it would be nice if there was maybe 2 or 3 increments between the two highest settings.

I wonder what kind of patch this would be? A simple software patch? a bios change?

I've seen two LED m1530's so far. Both are CMO, and neither have any issues with a grainy screen from what I could tell. The only issue (although negligible) I noticed is a small amount of light bleeding at the bottom. I can't see it unless it's totally black like when you turn it on. It's not really a problem, because the LG CCFL LCD screen I had prior to LED also had some light bleeding. It's perfectly normal.

People seem to be really happy with their LED screens, but if by chance you get a grainy, send it back, and I'm sure the next one will be perfect. I think you'll get a good screen your first go.

I don't notice any graininess on my CMO1555. Of course the CCFL I used to compare was an AUO2077, so it could just be me having higher tolerance lol
