Is there anything on the M1530 recovery partition that isn't on the CDs that came with the system? If it's the same stuff, I would assume it's safe enough to delete, right?

Also, sometime today I'll have a review up with lots of pictures. Be sure to check it out. :D

Well that is an image of the default setup by Dell as you got your unit.
Backup anything you may need but yes its ok to delete it..

Hey, thanks for the info. I'm going to go ahead and get rid of it then, I didn't like Dell's default setup anyway. Spending my time uninstalling a lot of it as it is :p

At least once you do a clean setup you'll be the Administrator unlike Dells hidern account and install programs of your choice (anti virus etc).
    Good luck ;)

This question is not that related to your original topic but a quick answer would be sufficient for me: How is your screen, is it clear and not "grainy" because I am getting the same resolution and all this stuff I've been reading on these bad screens is disturbing? Thanks, sorry for going off-topic.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :)
In other words judge for yourself.. I think the screens are very good.. Back-lit and standard.. But thats just me... :D

    Hi guys

I 've installed ubuntu 7.1 in my xps m1530 but in the install process i lost the recovery partition

ubuntu and vista work fine but the media direct button don't (it seems that the loader trys to find the software in th wrong place) any way i can live without it.

do you know a way to get the files from the recovery partition? (just in case)
if any one can share, i'll apreciate it.
