I ordered an M1530 with Windows Vista. I've never reformatted any notebook and I have left it in stock configuration and all. Though I would like to know whether or not its worth reformatting and upgrading from Vista Home to Ultimate.

Now I know generally the answer is yes, but I have read about cases where reformatting caused some random glitch that never happened before they reformatted such as random lines, screen black out, driver problems, etc.

And there have been cases about Windows Vista Ultimate lowering PC mark scores compared to when they had Windows Vista Home...

Have these happened to you? Did it turn out to be perfect after you reformatted to be the ideal system you wanted?

Just out of random curiosity, did the XPS wallpapers stay with the comp after you reformatted and reinstalled? Is it worth it?

If you care about performance, you must either manually butcher out the bloatware, or reformat. I've seen bloated M1530s with the 8600m GT score 3400, then optimized and overclocked Near or over 5 thousand.

Do you have Home Premium or Home Basic? I'd just stick with Home Premium.
