Since I've seen so many threads about people complaining about their M1530 screens I decided to make a poll to see how likely I'm gonna get a bad screen myself. Please post the model/brand of your screen, the size and how many times you had to get it replaced if it was bad.

SEC3350 Here. Horrible looking. New unit is on its way. My laptop had other issues besides the monitor, which is why I ordered a replacement. If replacement still has grainyness, then I will have tech support send me an LG panel.

From what I've gathered from other threads, it seems like the WSXGA+ screens are the most defective. Anyone know how good their WXGA+(1440x900) screens are?

i bought mine before the high res options came out, the 1280 by 800 i got isnt bad, no graininess, deadpixels and clarity is good enough for me, but i hate the narrow viewing angle im always adjusting the pitch angle of my lcd >=(

CPT141f - slight grain, dead pixel and well over half the screen affected by bleed.

It would be nice to know if the screen problems were more frequent with one resolution as opposed to another.

I ordered before the hi resolutions were introduced and got it on 12/24. The screen is perfect, an LG as I saw in the Order details. It's bright, not grainy at all, no dead pixel or backlight bleeding.

    I am lucky, I guess :)

It has been alleged by some on these forums that the 1680x1050 (WSXGA+) LCDs are often bad ones (i.e. SEC3350). However, I cannot speak to the veracity of those claims....other than the fact that I got one of the bad ones myself.

Mine came a few days later and same situation, not a high res but extremely bright and clear. Lucky I got the LG I guess.

I think the WSXGA+ are generally the bad screens as well. Makes me wish I opted for the WSXGA

    Hello everyone...
I just received my M1530 a few hours ago, and I'm a bit concearned...
So the screen is the ill fated SCxxxx (or whatever that is). The whites are not clear, and the screen, in all honesty doesn't look great! More... there's a visible bleeding (more strong on the bottom). Obviously if I haven't browsed these forums I would never think about it... But now that I did... It's like a virus growing inside me!

I have the WSGA... Does anyone with the same type of screen actually has a decent screen?
More... I realized that there's a huge space on the right hinge of the laptop! Is this normal?

ps: And I already got a blue screen of death!!! :)

    DP: RP636, 1280x800, Samsung
There is grain, mainly around the edges--most visible with light colors or whites

Going to try to get this replaced--

Update: tech came, refused to change screen, so its going to be shipped back to Dell for good

This is seriously ridiculous, over half the people claimed their screen was grainy. Dell needs to fix this asap. I just want them to throw away all the Samsung screens. LG should be their only supplier for the m1530.

I have a 1440x900 and the only problem I have with it (as mentioned above) is the extremely tight viewing angle. If I bob my head down or up (or to either side) a part of the screen becomes subpar in appearance.

I don't think so... The LG's are the best anyway, so I would not be paranoid about having a grainy screen. It's really easy to tell on a white web page. The whites will appear grayish white or dirty white.
