Alright, complete nooblet to the forums here, so bear with me.

I'm planning on buying an M1530 here soon with a T7500, 4GB RAM, blah blah blah with the 8600GT in it. I also loathe Vista with a passion, since I like my computers to work and be able to play games. So, I plan on upgrading to XP SP2, maybe SP3 beta. However, I don't know if all the drivers for all the M1530 stuff are available for XP. Are there enough drivers and such for all the hardware in the M1530?

Furthermore, are there any major problems with putting XP on a system designed for Vista such as the M1530?

Use the search function, there are several long topics on this subject which highlight several of the mroe difficult to install drivers. From what I can gather all or nearly all the hardware is now running correctly on xp.

Just a Question: Have you used vista on a machine that can handle it?

I have a craptastic graphics card, but as far as Crysis is concerned (unlike everyone else, I play because I like the multi player, not the pretty-shiny) DX10 is where its at.

What people have yet to realize is that because of limitations (see: most people can't run dx10 due to gfx card limitation) DX10 will not provide some magical graphics increase (yet, wait for a native, DX10 only game, you will see, I have used DX10 for personal projects, it is glorious)... blah blah

anywho, DX10 multi is much better than DX9 simply because of the objects!

Gas tanks explode, trees fall, crates are thrown at people (and frequently kill them)...

The search function of Vista is glorious.

Lastly: I get better battery life with Vista SP1 (I got it legit in Feb, as I am a "registered OEM partner" )

Not only do I use Vista, I have gone back to XP, and returned to Vista. It a very secure OS, and the drivers and net speeds are glorious. Update is cool too.

You don't need to shackle yourself to XP anymore.

I am curious why you want to.

I respectfully ask why you want to stay with XP (even my Mac lunatic friend switched to Vista)?
