Well I've been using XP, but decided to give vista another try. I have looked at Flamenko's guide, and I'd like to know if I can get all the necessary drivers from dell's website? The drivers and utilities disk only has like 3 checkmarked drivers, and the Dell site has like 20. Do I need to install all of these?

And after drivers, how can I best configure vista? The main thing that put me off was that UAC thing that pops up every time you delete something or some silly little thing. Please advise me =)

You will find that the disk doesnt checkmark all that is required. For instance, my FPR is not checkmarked as well as my webcam. All drivers are available at Dell and you need to look over each and decide which is for your specific system.

Oh and best configuration....you will probably like the Tweaking thread after the Clean Install thread, both under my sig block.

Hey thanks. Hmm I'm not quite sure which one's more annoying, the UAC prompts or the 'cannot find saved data/unauthorized access' popups from disabling it. Is there any way around this, or a decent compromise at least?

    Its easy to disable UAC
Type MSCONFIG in the run menu
Click on the tools tab, scroll down until you see disable UAC, highlight that line, click launch and thats it.
Sorry, should have paid more attn to your post,I see you've already tried that.
