Can anyone shed some light on how this score works or is really calculated?
Issue: I have two laptops; HPdv2500 w/ AMD Turion 64 and 2gb of mem, and a Dell M1530 w/ T7500 2,2ghz and 4gb of mem.
My hp indx score for mem is 5.4 and the Dell is 4.8. The mem score on the Dell is the only one less than 5.
How can the HP score (with less mem) get a higher score than the Dell?

Chances are it came down to the graphics card rating. All other factors are independent. The lowest rating becomes the Index.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Simply put, WEI is a poor benchmark utility. It does all sorts of inexplicable, random things. Ignore it.

What are the clockspeeds (timings) of the RAM for each notebook? It's 667MHz for the Dell. What about the HP?
But, yes, WEI is to be taken with a grain of salt. -
I also get WEI Mem scores of 4.8 on my M1530 (T7500) with 4GB and see 5.4 on a 1501 (Turion TL-60) with 2GB.

Hehe...got 5.4 for my 3gb 667 ram, upgraded from home premium to ultimate, installed SP1, and now my ram rating is 5.7.....better ram utilization in SP1?

WEI is largely irrelevant. I think the documentation attached to it states that it will be used in the future to allow computer-illiterate people to quickly and easily determine whether they can run a program on their computer. So, in the old days, the box would say "Recommended: Pentium 5 or higher, 512 Mb RAM, 30 Mb HD space." And someone would either not read it or not know what they had and buy it and not be able to use it. Now, it'll just say "WEI: 3.5." Presumably people will know their WEI score.

Same.... 667mhz

Installation of SP1 did not change the score for mem, but Graphics, Gaming Graphics and Primary Hard Disk all went up...

Yeah...which is why we should not trust the WEI...too damn unpredictable
