    Hey guys

Today my XPS laptop arrived and despite ordering the 1440 monitor I got an awful grainy monitor with light bleed at the bottom.

The grain isn't as noticable unless I'm looking at a mostly white picture like google but it's quite noticable when scrolling because the grain pattern remains when the picture is scrolling. And the extreme right edge is darker than the middle unless I move the viewing angle side on.

I followed the directions on this site to find the monitor type and it's a SEC3157 but I haven't heard anything about this monitor. Is this a known model for grain problems?

What are the options available to me to get this fixed? Should I return the whole thing or get someone to come out and fix it?

SEC3157 is a samsung screen, lots of reports of grainyness on these fourms.

Yes, for the most part was on the 1680x1050 rez screens. Now it could be another lottery with the lower rez as well. You have to act before your return period expires as it gives you more leverage to negotiate. You can go for a return...get an in home screen replacement ...but some don't want their lappy torn apart unless they send an experienced tech...Hope it all works out for you... when you get her right you will be impressed..it's a great machine...very versatile...

Anyone able to tell me how they went about getting this fixed without spending weeks and weeks sending laptops back and waiting for new ones?

or...you go through the screen replacement process which can be daunting in itself.... where else can we go and pay $2k for all the stress...I think that is part of the package..especially if you get a "sale" like some sort of ..."well you got $359 off now we get to play with ya"...the only other sad option is if you want to actually settle for a poor screen and get them to coupon your %^&& off...after puttin out this wack I would not though...some probably have ..whatever dell can try do to keep the masses happy...

used the service tag and found out today, my screen is the LG part! :)
    LCD,15.4WXGA+,TLF,LGP,V2

With Airroad, and they have called, telling me it will arrive Monday!

THAT EASES ALL My WORRIES!, during the ordering stage i did suggest the LG screen but she did not assure this could be done.
