is it possible to remove a key from the keyboard on a m1530? my brother spilled some coke on the left side (only touched a few keys) and the shift key seems to press itself once in a while (it acts like the shift key is held down)

the only way i can seem to get rid of it is to repeatedly bang on the shift key Untiil it unsticks >.>

if i can't fix it, i think i migth have to call up dell for a replacement keyboard. if i do get a replacement keyboard, they'll ship me the keyboard to replace myself right?

If you want to remove it start with a corner. Usually it feels like it will break but it wont. I am not responsible for any damage.

If it breaks tell dell how your brother was hardcore gaming and the key blew off and his hand jerked and hit the coke :D

Wow, great advice. That contained a little bit of everything. Generic "pry it up." Reassurance that "it feels like it's going to break, but it won't" followed quickly by "I'm not responsible for any damage." And then closing with "once you follow my advice and break it, here's some lame story you can tell Dell that's a total lie so that they will fix it for free."

    Good job. You're a superstar.

n00b >.< all you post is some stupid rant? is it because I have asian blood? there no need for such a "mean" post.

The only reason I post im not responsible is since if he does it wrong then hell break it. I do it to notebooks, external keyboards etc. You will get the hang of the keyboard after the first few keys and be able to pop em out easily

Usually on dells its easiest to try to lift the keys up from the bottom left corner

Yeah. But keep in mind that if you break it, it's because you did it wrong.

Taking the key off is easy.. It's getting it back on that's the hard part.. You could give it a try.. Dell is usually pretty good about shipping replacement keyboards, no questions asked...

The keys aren't hard to get off, just pry it from the bottom. If you spilled on it, I would be more inclined to remove the entire keyboard and clean it that way. You can also make sure none seeped down through the keyboard.

But you have total coverage right? Or is that with the normal warranty?

The tech might refuse though if he sees that you spilled on it.
