Some guy said he spoke to a rep that confirmed that we were given the DDR2 version of the 8600M GT. I haven't had the chance to call yet as they are closed.
Just had a look on the Dell NZ website and they claim it is DDR3. Is there anyway that I can check if it is DDR2 or DDR3? If it is 2 they are ****ed for false advertising and could owe a lot of people some money in New Zealand
"NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GS with 128MB dedicated DDR3 graphics memory or NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB dedicated DDR3 graphics memory"
My question is, is there a program that can fully identify my graphics card and state whether or not it is DDR2 or 3?

GPU-Z http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
That sucks man if you got a DDR2 1530. You definitely have a reason to complain if GPUz identifies the GPU as DDR2 -
If it is, they have done something illegal and are screwed, big time
-
YOu could sue if they do not refund.
-
Hmm, GPU-Z said it is DDR3, but also said that my driver is something else which it isn't. Are there any other programs that I can double check with?
-
yes that program is called rivatuner
-
I think the guy is mistaken, all versions of the 8600mGT on the M1530 are DDR3; thats its main selling point.
-
Yeah I really doubt they would make such a short sighted mistake. I would run a benchmark, see how high your score is, and that would be your definite proof if you got DDR3 or DDR2. Software can be a bit weird.
M1530 with DDR2 in New Zealand?!??
