    Hey all

So i'm having trouble with my M1530, and have no clue where to go. I've installed HL2, Bioshock and Geard of war. When i try and run them they start up fine, but eventually freeze and crash, with an error "Program encountered an error and must be closed" pops up.

I've tried updating video drivers, which has done nothing. Have you guys been able to install and run games off the bat, without changing anythiong on your M1530?

I have a feeling it may be a defect in the GPU.. and may be giving dell a call...

    Anyone else experience this?

    Hi Wolv,

This kind of trouble usually points to a video card problem. Here's what I recommend:

    1) Update the video display drivers (as you've done).
    2) Check to see the list of supported video cards in the games and check against your M1530.
    3) Make sure your other system specs are ok (enough RAM, correct CPU, etc).
    4) Another thing to try is DirectX - if you are running XP - upgrade to the latest version of DirectX.

I've heard from some folks Gears of War does not run on Windows Vista - not sure about that, can anyone comment?

Why the hell wouldn't GoW work on Vista?

Looks like a bad vista install, try to do a clean install

Man i'd really hate to do a clean install of vista...

Thanks for the input everyone, I may try once more to update the driver with the complete instructions from laptopvideo2go, but i have a feeling even with the driver that shipped, it should be able to run these games.

Im sure the computer can handle the games , 2.2ghz, 3gb, nvidia 6800M GT.

I may see what dell tech support suggests
