So, I ordered M1530 yesterday with WSXGA+ screen and when I checked these forums it had numerous threads about the screen being junk, atleast most of the them so I went back and checked my order status and looked at the long list of parts. I saw WSXGA+, Samsung right next to it, and boy I didn't wanna go through the hell everyone has gone through so I just canceled my order.
Well than I went to my brothers and he had an old dell laptop and it had the 1680x1050 resolution on his 15.4inch screen and boy I could not even read the test without feeling dizzyy, so thanks to these forums I came back and saw that users with WXGA+ scree 1440x900 resolutions were having far better luck with the lg phillips panel, so I went to dell and ordered me a new one with 1440x900 resolution and ugraded the processor to 2.2, thought abut 2.4 but na, not worth the extra money., and when I checked my order status 5 mins later and boom it said lg, phillps wxga+ panel right next to it.
All you guys have provided with great info and I am glad I finally got my lazy self to register and post this thread.
I just wanted to let people know that order the 1440x900 screen its your best bet and for me I found the 1680x1050 screen to be far to high of a resolution and 1280x800 to be way low, so 1440x900 is probably the best balance.
got 4gigs of ram and 250gb hd sitting at home which I had laying around for a while and I can finally put them to use.
All I wanna say is this forum has been a lot of help and it has made my buying experience painless.

Do you have 64-bit Vista to go along with your 4 GB of RAM?

i just a question about cancelling orders.
When you cancel, does it matter if you pay by credit? Im about to buy one with my VISA and If I see samsung next to my screen i'd like to do the same, but how would this work with cancelling a VISA payment? -
You can cancel without problems if you pay with credit.
Dell charges your card when your product ships, so if you cancel before the laptop ships, your card will not be charged at all. If you received the laptop and then return it, you account will be charged (when laptop ships) and subsequently credited (when they receive the returned laptop). -
Oh awesome, thanks for that!
If I were to order within the next hour, a XPS M1330 which I currently intend to do, is there anything I can do to get an LG screen? I hear those are the best out of the offerings.
Or, does it end up just a luck of the draw type of thing? I guess I could just place an order and keep cancelling until I finally get the screen I want. -
It's a luck of the draw. You can't select or indicate what brand LCD screen you receive.
I suggest instead of being focused on receiving an LG screen, wait for the laptop to arrive and if the screen is nice, keep it. If not, try to get it replaced. It is then that you can attempt to indicate what brand you want, but it is still unlikely that it will work. Some have had success, many haven't.
Keep in mind that the majority of screens are fine, only a small percentage have problems. -
Cheers! Thanks for your help
