Been awhile since I posted - I'm having the following issue... any input greatly appreciated.

    XPS M1710 w/ A07 BIOS
    Windows Vista Ultimate
    T2600 Core Duo
    2 GB DDR2
    100GB HDD
    GF7900 Go GTX

My system for the most part is always on AC power. Batteries are both ok and last about 1.5 hours. I usually just close the lid to put the lappie to sleep when not in use.

The last couple of days I have had this happen 3 times. When opening the lid the lappie will wake/resume but will freeze within a few seconds. CTRL-ALT-DEL is dead - the only way to get out of it is to hold down the power button and hard power cycle it.

I have ran diags and everything tests ok.

Also checked the event manager and found nothing.

Any thoughts? I have not called Dell yet. I do have the complete care and it is covered until 2010. I dont want them to replace the motherboard unless there is a possibility it is the cause.

    Thanks for any advice...

I should've googled it before posting - my bad. I'm seeing lots of reports of problems with sleep functionality within the google results. Thanks for the heads up gengerald. We'll see when SP1 is released.

Looking at the links you provided - thanks!

Interesting to note - my screen comes back on - i can log back into windows (i have it set to require a pw on wake). A few seconds later it will lock up and freeze. SP1 hurry up and get here... ;)

Hmm, that is a little different. On mine, I go in and it either wakes up or is already on (went to sleep and bounced back due to an application running in the background), and does not allow anything other than a power button cycle.
