Japan is extremely cheaper compared to EU or US -
Get atleast 3yr warranty man. It's worth it - specially on a expensive system like XPS.
I've seen people with XPS Gen1 getting the system replaced by M1710 when their original system died / coudn't be replaced.
Why is the price so much cheaper on Japan though? That just ain't right on Dell's part.
It should atleast be the other way since you know... Dell is a company who originated from the US! -
Well i think one year is enough to find a seriusly problematic bug. And it another 12000yen (100bux) to add to the configuration and i had to limit my budget around 400000yen (3500 bux)
I think Japan is cheaper than US or EU cuz of the "Price" and "Currency"
Im a Japanese and i no the Japanese sense of value of money. And when i fly over to America i always realize the great difference between the Japanes sense of the value of money and the American sense of the value of money..
Mayb its cuz theres one zero eliminated in America compared to Yen. -
People are obviously willing to pay more money for the same thing in the US. The idea is to sell something for the most amount of money that the consumer is willing to spend. Most americans that go out to buy a high end gaming laptop already have that 3000-5000$ price in mind, so they are priced accordling. My guess is that many of the consumers are very loyal to their own brands like sony so dell competes by selling a better product for less.
-
hmmmmm.... mayb
-
Maybe it's because more people in Japan use laptops than in the US so dell has to keep the price lower to be competitive?
-
Maybe it's because DELL is like an European Lenovo in US.
-
One thing I’ve noticed here is that most Japanese people stick with Japanese brands like Toshiba, Fujitsu, Sony and Panasonic. The only other non Japanese brand I see around is IBM, hardly see any DELL notebooks.
Another reason could be because DELL doesn't have any retail presence, which I think work against them in Japan. Therefore they have to keep their prices very attractive to compete with Japanese brands; at least that is what I think. -
Well im one of those Japanese who doesnt stick to the Japanese brands like Toshiba, Fujitsu, or Panasonic cuz they suck except for Sony. And I go to an international school which makes me somehow different from the rest of the Japanese and also makes me consider about American brands such as Dell or Alienware (even tho Alienware isnt in Japan; it shud) cuz there are friends of mine who own 1710 or m9750s.
And in addition, as a Japanese perspective, i think Japanese are pretty picky and thrifty about spending lots of money on consumers products.
