    Hey

Im planning on buying either the D630 or the M2300, but im not sure which one to choose.
Does anyone know the difference between the 2 laptops beside the fact that the D630 has the NVS135 and the M2300 the FX360.

Is the build quality the same, the screen etc. ?

    Thx.

EXACTLY the same computers, down to the motherboard and video card. The video BIOS is only what differentiates the two (NVS135m vs FX360m), and the lid of the laptops, the Precision lid looks a bit better and says "Precision" on it. Is it worth paying a huge price premium for it? Only if you have a lotta $$ to get rid of in my opinion.

Same applies to the D830 vs Precision M4300. You'll notice I have a M4300 from my sig but it was work supplied. I would never buy one with my own $.

I'm not sure if the D630 is the same as the M2300, at least in terms of chassi. I recently bought a M2300 and, I believe the outer plastic is of different quality. The D630 is made of plastic (if I'm not mistaken, since I've only seen 1 or 2 and now I can't remember) and the M2300 plastic seems to mix plastic and magnesium (there is some kind of sparkling stuff in the pastic).

They are the same notebook, the D630 also has magnesium alloy top/bottom. And you can see it here. The difference is the OpenGL video card/ ISV certification and the design for the Precision.

Correct, the laptops are EXACTLY the same in every way save for the video BIOS (although the cards are exactly the same chip), and the top of the lid. The video card as said above only has ISV and OGL certifications. I doubt for most people that this is necessary, maybe only for design professionals that don't want to fool around. In my opinion though its not worth the price premium. You see from my sig I use a Precision myself, but that is because it is company paid-for. It is my main computer, and I cannot justify the price of it in the least bit.
