If this is dell's offering, i'm definitely going for the hp 8510w. Been a dell customer all these while. Time to change. :( The m4300 feels like an after thought compared to the xps 1330

I think it's basically just a Latitude D830 with a more engineering-oriented graphics card. Same as the Precision M65 was to the D820.

That HP 8510w costs a fortune. How powerful a graphics card do you need... and do you really need one of the engineering-oriented ones? I don't even know what the difference is, actually.

I assume the quadro fx 360M is the workstation version of the 8400. Not sure though. For a 15.4", a bit lacking imo.

If the 1520 can have the 8600 version, one would also hope that the workstation can have a similarly powerful graphic card. In the case of the 8510w, you can opt between the quadro fx570M or the ati v5600. Also I don't think the m4300 is significantly cheaper than the 8510w. Furthermore, I'll wager the 8510w is lighter too.

Used the m65 for 3d modelling and wasn't impressed. Had to change to the m90 which was a beast but too heavy to be lugged to presentations. Read somewhere that said there could a M6300? A replacement for the m90 perhaps?

don't think so. Hopefully they'll change the specs before they launch it properly. Atm they can only be accessed thru the large business section.
